City coordinates — GeoNames attribution Data source and author: GeoNames, https://www.geonames.org/ License: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ The coordinate table city-coordinates.mjs is derived from the GeoNames gazetteer. Changes: records were selected for the 318 cities in the Couriero catalog; coordinates (WGS84 latitude and longitude) were not changed. Each tuple retains the GeoNames ID so its source record can be inspected at: https://www.geonames.org// Coverage: all 318 catalog cities. A city was matched by country code and exact primary/alternate name; ambiguous historic names were resolved by primary name. Source priority: cities15000, then cities1000 for smaller omitted towns, then the Kyrgyzstan country dump for Tamchy. No population, names or raw gazetteer files are downloaded by the browser during location detection. Location detection is optional. The app processes a single browser-provided position locally; it does not transmit or store that position. It suggests only a nearby catalog city and asks for manual selection outside its coverage or when location accuracy is insufficient.
